The tenets of your ego
tether us to the confines
of a technological appeal
and the worship of apotheosis
in the eternal electric pulse
This one is a pretty negative view of Social Media....
So DISCLAIMER!
I actually view social media as an incredibly useful tool, to connect, integrate, and communicate (even if I don't personally have a large online profile) It is most certainly not just an ego-boosting mechanism but one that also links people, to share events in their communities, celebrate and share lifetime events with friends, and taking lots of selfies doesn't necessarily make you a narcissist!
However I do agree that a lot of the adoption of social media is certainly driven by the desire to be "important", garner recognition and "fame" (or notoriety). It is after all natural for humans as socially driven creatures to seek acceptance and acknowledgement from others, hence ego driven.
...and I've sort of forgotten where the thought was heading, and as I actually wrote this a few months ago, and didn't upload until now, I can't remember what I was even thinking when I composed it!
There was a little more about the desire to be a God, or to become immortal via the internet or something like that....
